Desk Tray - Red Garnet
A ceramic 3D printed Tray
6 ½ in x 6 ½ in x 1 ¼ in
Made with Night Clay sourced in California.
This tray was designed as a simple, everyday object — a place to leave your keys, earphones, wallet, and small essentials. What sets it apart is not what it’s for, but how it’s made.
It’s 3D printed in ceramic using non-planar printing, a process where the layers gently follow curves instead of staying perfectly flat. This allows the surface to grow naturally, forming a continuous pattern that would be extremely difficult to achieve with traditional ceramic techniques.
The texture isn’t applied or carved afterward — it’s part of the structure itself. Light moves across the surface differently throughout the day, revealing depth, rhythm, and subtle variations that make each piece feel alive.
After printing, every tray goes through the full ceramic process: slow drying, firing, glazing, and a final high-temperature firing. As with all ceramic work, small variations occur naturally, making each tray one of a kind.
Designed to live on a desk, shelf, or entry table, this piece balances function and experimentation — quiet enough to use every day, distinctive enough to notice every time you reach for it.
